The Sviatoslav Vakarchuk concert at Kyiv Mohyla Academy raised nearly half a million hryvnias for medical aid to wounded soldiers and the project for online education.
On October 5th, the electrifying singer and composer Sviatoslav Vakarchuk donated his time and talent at a concert to help Ukrainian wounded soldiers and to establish online education courses at Kyiv Mohyla Academy that will be accessible to students throughout Ukraine, with emphasis on Crimea and the eastern territories of Ukraine.
Digital education is especially important now – when students from Donbass and Crimea often do not have access to quality education. This is a project that requires serious financial and human resources and is planned to be implemented soon, for the 400th anniversary of Kyiv Mohyla Academy.
Sviatoslav Vakarchuk is a generous philanthropist, and has repeatedly donated his talent and leveraged his prestige for charitable causes. He has been a leading supporter of Ukraine’s struggle for independence and for a European direction. At the concert he performed in an intimate stage setting, accompanied by piano and guitar to an enthusiastic audience that packed the university’s auditorium.
Vakarchuk has been a continuous supporter of Kyiv Mohyla Academy. On this occasion, he received the university’s honorary diploma as a member of the Kyiv Mohyla Fraternity, and received long and numerous standing ovations.
