Partnership between Kyiv-Mohyla Academy and Georgetown Institute on Women, Peace and Security

The program of cooperation between Kyiv-Mohyla Academy and Georgetown University was formalized with the bilateral visits of Dr. Olha Polyukhovych and Dr. Tamara Martsenyuk to Georgetown University in December 2023, and the recent visit and lecture of Dr. Robert Nagel, of Georgetown University,  at Kyiv-Mohyla Academy. 

Olha Polyuhovych, PhD,  is Vice President for Research and Academic Affairs Associate Professor of Literature.  Tamara Martenyuk, PhD , Associate Professor of Sociology,  is a leading sociologist and researcher who specializes in gender studies and serves as a gender expert at the Ukrainian Helsinki Human Rights Union.  Both professors are leaders in their fields.

Robert Nagel, PhD is Director the Gender and Peace Certificate Program at Georgetown University.  His research focuses on women’s impact on the effectiveness of peacekeeping missions.  The mutual program brings into focus the study of the challenges and impact of the Russian invasion on Ukraine during the current war on women and men in various gender abuses, and gender inequalities arising from the political and military leadership during the war.
